SELANGOR STATE CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY

The Selangor State’s Climate Change Policy is a comprehensive document outlining the Selangor State Government’s approach to addressing the impacts of climate change, which is a global challenge affecting various sectors and levels. This policy serves as a guide in balancing economic development with environmental conservation while supporting a just and inclusive energy transition across all sectors of society.

The impacts of climate change, such as increased rainfall patterns and flood risks, rising sea levels and coastal erosion, pressure on water resources, and effects on agriculture and aquaculture, are challenges faced by Malaysia, including the state of Selangor.

Recognised as Malaysia’s most developed state and a major contributor to the national economy, Selangor is committed to enhancing resilience to climate impacts through strategic planning and the implementation of adaptation and mitigation actions. This commitment is reflected in the details outlined in this policy. Additionally, the policy emphasises energy transition initiatives in Selangor and efforts to reduce carbon emission intensity, aiming to prepare the state for sustainable development while safeguarding the well-being of its residents.
