The Selangor Climate Adaptation Centre (SCAC) participated in the Focus Group Discussion for the review (semakan semula) of Selangor’s Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) 2022–2030, organised by the Selangor Water Management Authority (Lembaga Urus Air Selangor, LUAS).

A Key Instrument for Coastal Planning
ICM has been one of Selangor’s key policy instruments for managing coastal development since 2007. Building on over a decade of implementation, the ICM Selangor 2022–2030, adopted in 2024, strengthens a holistic, integrated and participatory approach to balancing coastal development with environmental protection and ecosystem resilience.
The revised plan is complemented by the Integrated Coastal Use Zoning Plan (ICUZP), which provides a coordinated zoning framework for the five participating coastal local authorities to guide sustainable coastal land use and development.

Strengthening Coastal Resilience
As climate change accelerates coastal risks, including sea level rise, coastal erosion and tidal flooding, planning instruments such as ICM play an increasingly important role in strengthening coastal resilience and supporting informed decision-making.
SCAC looks forward to continuing its collaboration with LUAS and other partners in advancing climate-resilient coastal development, and in ensuring that climate considerations remain embedded in long-term planning and governance for Selangor.
More information on the ICM Plan is available on the LUAS website.
